Birds living in a Mallee environment

Many of these birds have been photographed in the Birds Australia Gluepot Reserve 65 Km North of Waikerie in South Australia. (These are tagged as "GP").
Others were shot on my own property.
Many of the Gluepot images were shot from hides, but a few were in the open, shooting with a 960mm (effective) lens hand held on a Canon 70D body. Hooray for image stabilisers!

The Brown Goshawk had just finished demolishing a pigeon, and was quite bloated - certainly looked very satisfied! Note the trace of blood on it's beak.

The Eastern Spinebill was found only a few metres from our Christmas morning breakfast table outside our daughter’s house at Aldgate in the Adelaide Hills.

The Hooded Plover pair was photographed on the edge of a (rapidly filling) salt lake on York Peninsula using a new 7DMk2 with Tamron 150-600 lens at 600mm - hand held
